![]() I've retrofitted at least ten headlights already at the shop including my own e39. LED technology will absolutely become dominant in the near future, in cars with headlights designed for LED bulbs LED technology will never be able to replace halogen or xenon bulbs in headlights designed for halogen or xenon bulbs Some comments even talk about having to adjust their headlights downwards because they are "too bright" And all the pictures of the bulbs in the lowbeams look like a highbeam output pattern. ![]() Just look through the customer pictures on that Amazon ad. It attempts to mimic the output pattern of the bulb they replace, and it even says so in the ad, but they do not do so accurately. The LEDs output light on two sides of the bulb and the bulb itself blocks a lot of the reflections (because it's a solid aluminum body, instead of clear like OE bulbs). The LED bulbs that try to emulate the output location of those bulbs does not work as intended, as the bowl is designed for bulbs which have 360 degrees of output. The projector or halogen light bowl is specifically designed to optimize output for those bubs. The shape of the bowl is designed for the specific bulb you use - as different bulbs have the light output focused in different spots. They might look "brighter" but you won't gain more useful light output. Putting LEDs in them, without fail, causes upwards scattering and incorrect focal length. Your stock headlights are designed for the bulbs they came with.
